NEW Early Fraction BURSTS

Grades 2, 3 and 4
How often have you cringed at the word, fractions? How often has this word driven fear into the heart of students? It doesn’t have to be this way for you or your students. We have created six reasoning routines (BURSTs) in fractions. These routines are designed to engage your students in playful learning that help develop foundational big ideas which are essential for success with fraction content.

SPECIAL OFFER - INCLUDES 6 BURSTS

Noticing Routines

Pre K, K and Grade 1

These playful, highly interactive routines are designed to develop children’s problem-solving strategies and habits of mind. There are many possible images to use with each routine, which students can be continually challenged to notice, predict, and question.

Early Quick Image Routines

K and Grade 1

Quick image routines can be used to develop a wide range of important reasoning strategies. These strategies may include developing fluency with sight quantities, visualizing quantities geometrically, and decomposing and recomposing quantities.

Developing Fluency & Part/Whole Relations Within 20

Grades 1, 2, and 3

These routines are designed to develop essential big ideas strategies in early numeracy. These include developing students’ fluency with the complements of 20 and relational thinking.

Developing Fluency & Part/Whole Relations Within 100

Grades 1, 2, and 3

These routines are designed to develop essential big ideas strategies in early numeracy. These include developing students’ fluency with the complements of 100 and relational thinking.

Developing Habits of Mind, Problem Solving and Communication in the Upper Grades

Grades 3, 4, and 5

These routines are designed to develop students’ capacity to reason with relationships. In each routine, students have the opportunity to look for and reason with patterns, make conjectures, and generalize critical mathematical structures.

Developing Factor/Multiple Relationships

Grades 3,4 and 5

These routines are designed to develop students’ understanding of factor-multiple relationships . In each routine, students have the opportunity to look for and reason with patterns, make conjectures, and generalize critical mathematical structures.

"This is the best math lesson ever!"

1st Grade Student
The BURSTs are so fun and clever! I have already used two the mini-lessons with my students!
3rd Grade Teacher
The engagement with my students is excellent-- higher participation than ever before!
1st Grade teacher
I really enjoyed the new Fraction BURST routines. They are a quick and effective way to explore the big ideas in fraction and gather information about what kids know and what confusions they may have. I plan to use these during my fraction unit this year.
